Minka J Giles was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. Early in her career, Minka followed in her mother’s footsteps and began working for the Illinois Department of Public Aid. Minka started as a clerk and through several promotions worked her way up to Public Service Administrator at a Local Office. 

     While working full time, she also attended Chicago State University and obtained a Bachelors Degree in Sociology. Minka worked for the State of Illinois from 1990-2008. In 2008, Minka began her current job with the City Of Chicago as a Police Communications Operator. During this time she has been highly recognized and awarded for her hard work and her commitment to helping others. Always wanting to help others, Minka collected toiletries to pass out to the homeless.  In 2019, Minka launched Never 99, a 501(c)3.
